On Sunday, June 29, Silver Spoon Bakery hosted their second annual fundraiser to benefit the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk/Ovarian Cancer Brigade. Karen Bristow, Silver Spoon Bakery team member and Warwick Fire Department employee, organized the event which drew about 200 people, including Warwick Mayor Avedisian, and raised more than $3,500 for the charities. Karen and Silver Spoon Bakery owner Kelly Colgan have walked the 26.2 miles in memory of Karen’s friend Mary Sayles, who passed on June 28, 2011 from Ovarian Cancer, and will walk alongside other Silver Spoon team members and friends this year on September 21.
Generous donations for raffles and food for the event was provided by 1149 restaurant, East Greenwich Therapy and Wellness, Warwick Country Club, Dave’s Marketplace, Piezoni’s, Swarovski, and more.
